SURVIFAL
Survifal was my second assessed event at University, it was created by myself and two fellow students. The aim for Survifal was to spread awareness and raise money for a local based charity called Surfers Against Sewage. The night consisted of a series of games themed around skills you would need to survive an island. The night was successful and raised a total of £73.97 for Surfers Against Sewage.
My main roles were based on the marketing, game design and stakeholder liaison. Marketing the event included online social presence and maintenance, I also designed the assets (logo, banners, poster, blog post imagery). To ensure I was maintaining an effective work consistency I created a marketing plan. I also made sure to keep the Facebook page active to keep the followers informed and interested. Using my initiative I contacted local surfing clubs and societies to inform them of the event. Creating the games was very time consuming as we had four rounds to perfect and make sure they ran smoothly on the night. It was vital to maintain a strict schedule to meet so all key aspects of the event had been completed in good time.
Stakeholder management was the most practiced element of creating this event for myself as I had to liaise with a number of different external and internal personal. On the night we had a raffle as the main source of income for Surfers Against Sewage, this meant contacting a number of local businesses to donate to the raffle.
As well as this, working alongside the venue holder required constant effective communication. Planning events at university has enabled me to produce a multitude of important documentation. For example; an event plan, risk assessments, budgets, scheduling, human resource management, marketing plan, press releases and evaluation.
Skills that were used and developed during this project:
- Time Management
- Stakeholder Liason
- Lateral Thinking
- Communication Skills
- Organisation
